SAVING LIVES
Scientists have contributed significantly to the development of precision medicine and individualized therapies, resulting in better, more effective treatments and fewer side effects. Treatment is no longer a one-size-fits all and fewer patients with low-risk breast cancer are overtreated.
Researchers were critical players in the breakthrough of biomarkers, unique molecular signals that can help predict how tumors will respond to certain treatments and the possibility of cancer returning. New methods lead to early stage detection and more personalized treatment that will all lead to a cure.
